History of the Album
Songs of the Iron Trail is a remastered, digitized and reordered re-release of the 1983 vinyl album of the same title. The original was recorded at Northern Productions, Ltd., Calgary AB, June and July, 1983, with Ron Mahonin in charge. Richard Harrow supervised the remastering at Audiomastering.com, Calgary, AB, in the fall of 2006. CD and cover design by Tona W. Ohama at Canada Disc and Tape, Calgary, AB.
The painting on the CD cover, which also appears on the home page of this site, is based on a poster by Dennis Budgen for the Great CPR Exposition at the Glenbow Museum, 1983-1984. With the kind permission of Duncan Cameron of the Glenbow, Andy Hordos adapted the CPR poster for the album cover.
